'Butz-Freeze'
A Flintloque Scenario by Andrew Davey

Ten hardened Army criminals are given a chance to be pardoned by undertaking a suicide mission in the Witchlands.

Slowly the old man raised his telescope to his eye and studied the enemy gun emplacement, taking in every detail. One missed opportunity could mean disaster for his elite squad of bedraggled Finklestein Troopers. He turned and signalled Porta. To his side, Corporal Joseph Porta was unmistakable in his yellow top hat, with his trusty grenade-launching carbine by his side.
"Vot do you make of it Sergeant?" Porta asked quietly.
"Ve vill attack in two small squads - v'one from ze left und v'one from ze right. Ve vill have ze element of surprize on our side. Take Tiny, Bauer and Barcelona vith you. Legionnaire. Gregor and Heide vill come vith myself."
"I understand" replied Porta.
"Ve move out in two hours, tell ze others and get some v'est".
"Happy hunting my friend" were the last words Porta heard as he crawled away to brief the others. Now all they could do was wait for dusk and the attack to begin.

Finklestein Objective
A mixed Elite Squad from the 27eme Penal Regiment has been sent on a dangerous mission to capture and destroy an Undead Gun Emplacement. A quick and decisive victory would open up an avenue of escape for the retreating Armee De Norde. It is imperative that this position is kept open as long as possible, at any cost.
Undead Objective
In charge of the Gun Emplacement is the Count Molotofski. He is notorious for his bad temper and aggressive approach to disciplining his troops. He begrudges not being given an Elite Squad of Licantzrop Jaegers to lead instead of the Horde of Rag and Bones he commands. Even so, he will defend his position at all cost, even if all his force is destroyed.
~
Terrain
The Gun Emplacement is situated on the edge of a forest and the whole area is covered in thick snow. (See Deadloque Rulebook for modifiers). The attack also takes place at dusk so visibility will be poor (cut to 50%).

~
Result
1. Total victory for the Finklesteins if all Undead are killed or Molotofski is killed. The latter would put the Undead forces into total confusion causing a total collapse of discipline.
2. Victory for the Undead if the attack is repelled and at least five of the attacking force are killed.

Webmaster's Notes
This scenario was originally published in Alternative Armies' Loque and Load magazine, Volume 4, Issue 2 in the Summer of 2002 and was first published on Orcs in the Webbe on the 8th November 2007.
It was absent for many years due to a prior regeneration of the website not transferring everything over correctly, the wrong has now been righted and it returned on the 4th December 2025 as the fourth entry in that year’s Advent Calendar and, of course, is part of Orcs in the Webbe's ongoing Flintloque Archive Project, bringing you fondly remembered and long forgotten adventures from the world of Valon.
Any comments in maroon in the article above have been added by me either to provide additional information or clarity. In many cases I have also made small changes to grammar and layout and may not have not marked these.
