Gamers may wish to play out some games pitting Dresda units against black powder weapon armed Flintloque ones. Indeed, during the early days of black powder weaponry, clashes between traditional troops and musket armed ones where quite common - and in close terrain such as woods, urban areas or underground, the result is not a foregone conclusion either! When playing a crossover game, gamers using traditional units should use the rules in Dresda, black powder units the rules in Flintloque. By and large the core systems are identical, so there should be no problem here. If there is any conflict then the GM should decide which rule takes precedent given the particulars of the situation. The only optional amendment we would suggest is for games is when Dresda troops are first attacked by black powder weaponry. The FIRST time a character is fired on, they should test on the Morale table as for the Death of a Leader. For every subsequent turn they are fired on, they should test as if Fired At First Time. Whilst this gives Flintloque units a decided edge, it does simulate the sheer terror troops who has never seen black powder weaponry before, when coming under fire. GM's should balance games by heavily outnumbering Flintloque units. Webmaster's Notes The above rules were first printed in the original Dresda rulebook in 1996 and they are included here with the kind permission of the authors. |
