So this is the future.
First up, where the hell is my jet pack and the flying cars?
Secondly welcome to Orcs in the Webbe 2010.
I'd like to thank everyone for their support throughout 2009 especially all those who contributed to the site, but also you lot, the readers. If it wasn't for you I wouldn't be doing this in the first place, so again, thank you.
This months's introductory blog contains the following things:
- A huzzah (and apologies) about the advent calendar
- Regular archive material uploads returning
- The monthly columns continue
- A new scenario every month
- An ongoing interactive campaign begins
As you're all aware each year of OITWs offerings culminates with the Advent Calendar. This years calendar being a bigger success than any previous year. As I'm sure you know things went a bit wobbly towards the end. By wanting to get two dozen brand new submissions online I bit off a bit more than I could chew. I've learnt some valuable lessons about time management and don't worry the format of next years calendar is already forming in my tiny little brain. Do not fret about the gaps either, they will be filled post haste. Firstly I'll be finishing my editing duties on Tony Harwood's "Mordreds Taste for Bones" and Ben Burston's "A Right Royale Boxing Day" scenarios. The ones which were to be pencilled by me will be along in a little while as writing and testing time permits.
So what's in store for you folks over the next twelve months, quite a bit actually...
First up is the return of my archiving project. OITW core reason to be is to become a one stop shop for all Flintloque material past and present. So with the permission of those kind folks at Alternative Armies every Monday something from the last few years of files from the Notables Yahoo group will be going online in fully searchable, indexed files for your perusal. So, can't find the document you know mentions a specific character or need to track down that Reloaded rule you know would fit right into your Third Edition game. Well OITW will be here to help you. We even have something particularly special, Gavin has agreed that as well as the Notables files I can upload articles from the excellent printed Notables Newspapers so they will fit right in along with the other articles covering Valon.
Also I know there's still quite a lot of content out there that is out of print or very hard to get hold of. Loads of it has already been uploaded to OITW but there's more. So with that in mind every Friday you'll be getting something found, scanned (and in some cases typed) then uploaded by me.
So two uploads a week, not bad eh.
And there's more, after their huge success in 2009 both of the monthly columns, Matthew Hartley's Tankard Tales and Gavin Syme's Inside the Alternative, will both be continuing throughout 2010.
And on top of that as I know you folks like nothing better than a new scenario, every month OITW will bring at least one new scenario for use with the Flintloque third edition ruleset. Most months will probably bring more but there'll be at least one for you to download.
On the scenario front, we're trying something a bit different this year that directly involves you lot. CJ Hooper's succesful first foray into the world of Valon, Love and Death in Llednevir, will be getting a series of sequels. Starting later this month CJ will bring you the next episode of the Llednevir Chronicles, one which (like the first one) will have more than one outcome. Then each month we ask you to play through the scenario and let us know the results. Whichever outcome is obtained by most people is what CJ will take as the 'offical' outcome and use that to pen the next episode. I hope you'll all take part, there will be plenty of rules encouraging solotaire and group play, along with suggestions for scenery and miniatures.
So with all that in mind you should find more than enough to keep your flag flying in 2010.
Welcome to the new decade !
