Appearances

Ball's to The Wall by Steve Blease

Set just after the secession of the Finklestein Dwarves from the main Krautian League.

In this adventure Hauptmann Steiner is the Commander of a section of the 6th Prinz Neufel Mountain Jägers, an Elite unit of Dwarf light infantry.

Steiner's primary mission was a reconnaissance mission covering various small alpine villages including the small hamlet, Heildeljourgsenberg. Whilst observing this settlement, he noticed the arrival of a small guarded carriage transporting two elderly Finklestein generals who were making the pilgrimage to the villages fabled statue. The reason for thier visit seemed obvious as Steiner also observed two considerably younger, exotic and athletic Halfling mistresses with them! Not one to let such an opportunity go to waste, Steiner decided to hit the Finklesteiners hard and capture at least one of the generals.

Where The Iron Crosses Grow by Simon Evans

Set during the Witchlands campaign.

Having been promoted to Commander of the 2nd Platoon, No.3 Company of the 2nd Brandenburg Jäger Regiment. Sergeant Steiner found himself part of the ill-fated Witchlands expedition. Reduced to barely a tenth of its strength in the fighting retreat, the regiment managed to avoid fragmenting but was forced to reorganise into battle groups as it's losses continued to mount. Part of one of these battle groups was Steiner's 2nd Platoon.

The platoon was part of KampfGruppe Eisenstein, a collection of detached platoons and the remains of two regiments and a cavalry squadron which forms the vanguard of the retreating forces. Steiner was tasked with scouting ahead of the main body, reporting large enemy concentrations or eliminating small ones. His platoon found an Undead section, Outpost Seven. Steiner decided that the enemy force was small enough for his Jägers to handle alone, and opted for a stealthy approach leading to a surprise attack to deal with them.

Inspiration

Steiner is based on Rolf Steiner as portrayed by James Coburn in the 1977 film, Cross of Iron. He was created by Steve Blease and also shows up in Panzerfäuste.
