Since before the rise of Black Powder the Dog Kingdom of Saxhünde had an uneasy alliance with the Dwarves of Krautia. The Kingdom was small but had a reputation for producing fierce and large soldiers. They kept many potential enemies at bay, with their paws begging for mercy. When Mordred’s Armies destroyed the Krautians at the first Battle of Yenna the King of Saxhünde, Fido Augustus, sued for peace with the Ferach Elves. An uneasy peace was agreed, the Tyrant knew the value of such fearsome Dog Warriors. Soon newly equipped units of brave and well-trained Dog Soldiers were posted to all fronts to fight for Mordred. Foremost amongst these are the Saxhünde Guard Grenadiers. Chosen from the largest and fiercest dogs in the land, these troops are bold in the attack and dogged in defence! The huge bearskin caps and massive mutton chops of these hairy hounds can be seen in the forefront of many a fight. From the snows of the Witchlands to the dusty battlefields of Catalucia they have battled. A few units have even fought the rebel Trolka in Scandavia where many patches of snow have yellowed in fear! The Grenadiers carry an ancient relic in the form of a Standard topped with a huge fossilised marrowbone. They will follow the bearer of the relic anywhere and woe betide anyone who tries to take away their bone… Status and Armament The Saxhünde Grenadiers are classed as Regular Infantry and are armed with High Elf muskets. Some have captured ‘Orc Bessies’ or even Dog Grenadier Blunderbusses taken from other Confederation regiments.
