Illskinning Line Infantry - The 27th Foot Bog-Orcs of Guinalea in the Albion Army ‘I don’t know what they will do to the enemy but by Sentinel they scare me!’ - Wheeling-Turn at the Battle of Slaughterloo There are few soldiers in Albion’s Grand Alliance that have the reputation that is allotted to the Illskinnings, perhaps the Albion Guard or the illustrious 105th Rifles measure up but few can match these Bog-Orcs for stature. Taken from the town of the same name, the Illskinnings are large and powerful and only the best recruits are placed in the Line. The town of Illskinning is a centre of brewing and tanning and it is from the tanning works that the name Illskinning came. At the time of the annulling of Wylde Magick, Trolls were common in the lands of the Orcs and their skins were used as tent covers and carpets. So much skin is taken from giant Trolls that the amount of urine needed to cure it became vast and eventually toxic, spoiling the local water sources. Many Bog-Orcs died and those that survived the ‘Ill Skinning’s’ as they became known were the toughest of the meanest that remained. The Illskinning are armed with Orc ‘Bessies’ and the occasional Ogre ‘Big Bessie’. Attired in much the same uniform as Orc Line such as the 62nd and the 45th. Many Elves have paid the price of mistaking the Illskinning for Albion Line. Wheeling-Turn is known to keep detachments of this regiment near at hand, for as Sharke and his Rifles are the eyes of the Army the ‘Skinnings’ are the fist. Noted for their vicious conduct in the use of the bayonet and their reputation for maintaining their ranks in the face of volley and canister when other regiments break under intense fire, the Illskinning Line are the pride of Guinalea.
