The Illustrated Londinium Times: Political Puppets Perplex Politicians ! Print E-mail
Tuesday, 18 December 2007 00:00
The world of diplomacy was stunned yesterday by the first official statement from the newly-appointed Al-Garvey Council of Regency. The old Council was dissolved by Queen Maria of Al-Garvey only weeks ago in a shock move during her recent royal visit to Albion . The Queen appointed a collection of children's toys to take over the running of the country, and leading officials were at first concerned that the decision could spell the end for Al-Garvien politics.

Their concern was yesterday proved to be well-founded. During the interval of Andrew Orc-Webber's "Romeo and Julie Yet", the Queen was seen to jump upon the stage and declared a press conference. During this impromptu public statement, Mr. Froggy, Maria's appointed 'secretary' and constant companion, called for many unusual policies to be implemented. Declaring that "a tadpole is for life", he went on to call for more puppets to receive positions of high office.

While the casual observer may have been fooled into thinking that these were in fact the words of the non-sentient Todoroni glove-puppet, the sharp reporters of the Londinium Tymes were not tricked. Queen Maria's attempts at ventriloquism were poor, and when other 'ministers' were called upon to give their statements, no-one was surprised to discover that they all spoke with the same high-pitched shriek one has come to expect from the Goblin monarch.

The meeting came to an abrupt upon the arrival of the Queen's son, Don Jon. Even though his crisp white suit looked cool, he appeared to be far from relaxed. Apologising to the assemblage, he stated that "in no way does Mr Froggy represent the official policy of Al-Garvey. My mother is not well, please do not listen to her." Maria was hastily rushed off the stage by Don Jon, while Mr Froggy was heard to defiantly cry "I have killed once. I will kill again." One can only wonder at these words, and we look forward to hearing more announcements form the Al-Garvien political camp.
