The Illustrated Londinium Times: Wurlde Cup Abandoned ! Print E-mail
Tuesday, 18 December 2007 00:00
Thousands of eager Orcs and Rats received a bitter blow recently when Officials announced that the Wurlde Cup had been cancelled due to war. Thousands of fans had bought tickets to travel the globe in order to see their teams play in Catalucia, but Football’s governing body, IFFI, believes the risk to fans to be too high because of the bitter fighting. Both Joccia and Albion had expected to field teams in the contest.

The brave Joccians, who despite being drubbed every time the tournament takes place still come back for more, were to play in the opening match against a rival team, making a Rat defeat inevitable. Noted for the enduring loyalty of their good-natured fans, the Joccians were said to be bitterly disappointed with the decision. Former player Frank Macabevvie said that this was not a high point in the teams career, and he should know.

The players of the Albion team are said to be “gutted”. The Albion team had been fired up for the competition, even though a key player had been caught in an Al-Garvien tavern of ill-repute against orders. Their manager, who outraged fans with the controversial dropping of comedy breast-wearing unfit fatboy crybaby Porc Ghastgone, stated that there would be a full refund for supporters who had already bought tickets from official sources. However, the corrupt Catalucian government’s incompetent mismanagement of ticket sales has resulted in many fans purchasing their tickets from unoffical outlets. IFFI said that this made the likelihood of a peaceful match unlikely, with the segregation of fans undermined by the chaotic distribution of tickets.

An IFFI spokesman said “the situation is dreadful. We’ve done our best to keep violence off the terraces and on the battlefield where it belongs, but the breakdown in our system would inevitably result in disaster. For this reason, and because of the war in Catalucia, the tournament has been called off.”
